- Meetings include educational sessions, socializing, and are open to all who need support. Membership is not required.
- PFLAG meetings are always free; however, we encourage attendees to make a small monetary donation to the Ward Museum for use of their space.
- We are particularly grateful that the Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art has graciously extended us use of their meeting rooms. The Ward Museum of Wildfowl Art is nestled next to Schumaker Pond in Salisbury, MD. Surrounded by wildlife in the heart of the Atlantic Flyway, the Museum features the world’s largest and finest public collection of decorative and antique decoys.
Our Meetings - Open and Welcoming to All
We have been where you are:
- What is said in our meetings and the identities of those attending is strictly confidential.
- No recording devices are allowed without consent.
- Presence at our meeting does not indicate any particular sexual orientation.
- All have the right to expect these protections and are obligated to extend them to everyone present.
We have been where you are:
- “My son just told me he’s gay. What should I do? I am afraid for him.”
- “I feel like I am the only transgender person in the community. What support and activities are offered on the Eastern Shore?”
- “How do I speak out to people who make fun of my lesbian friend?”
- “I want my child to be safe and happy and have the same opportunities as everyone else. How can I advocate for the rights of my child?”
- “Won’t being LGBTQ+ make my child’s life harder?”
- ”How will I ever tell my friends and family?”
- ”What if my religion does not accept gays?”
- "My daughter just came out to me as non-binary. I'm not sure what this is. Can you help me understand?"
- ”How do I meet other LGBTQ+ people?”
What Should You Expect?
We typically have a topic for discussion, and sometimes we might have a special guest. Conversations are usually informal. If someone is in need of crisis assistance or struggling with an issue, we will put aside our planned discussion topic to provide support. Attendees may share and participate as much or as little as they would like.

Youth Meetings.
We are excited to announce that we are offering WEEKLY teen social meet-ups! Meetings are held online via the Zoom platform and facilitated by Alison Vooris, MS, MEd, and Jessica Vooris, PhD. A PFLAG Board Member will serve as moderator. Youth meet ups meet WEEKLY on Tuesday nights from 7-8pm. All LGBTQ+ teens ages 12 - 18 are welcome! However, permission of a parent or guardian is required. Parents and guardians, this is a one-time registration process. Once you sign your teen up to participate, they can attend as many meet-ups as they'd like. Parents and guardians can register their teen here: https://tinyurl.com/y9flldju
